Fuel, oil, and dependable service for a growing South Florida.

From the company archive

Built for a city on the move.

A local operation carrying the Fort Lauderdale name from the start.

Fort Lauderdale Gas Co. was founded in 1952 as a regional petroleum distributor and service-station operator. From its original South Florida station, the company supplied fuel and oil while building a reputation for straightforward service.

As Fort Lauderdale grew, so did the business. By 1954, the company was preparing to expand beyond its original station, adding new locations, new signage, and its first proper fleet of delivery tankers.

The name appeared across the original building, pumps, and delivery equipment: Fort Lauderdale Gas Co. In 1954, the company prepared for its largest expansion to date.

Built to deliver.

Early operations remained modest: a neighborhood station, petroleum storage, and local delivery service. As demand grew, plans were drawn for new locations, a larger identity package, and five new tanker trucks.

The 1954 expansion

A new chapter was about to begin.

With five new tankers ordered and a complete signage package in production, Fort Lauderdale Gas Co. was ready to grow beyond its original operation. The surviving materials from that expansion are currently being restored for the next chapter of the archive.
